What is Kombucha?

Kombucha is tea (white, green, black, or oolong) fermented with cane sugar to produce a slightly tart, carbonated beverage.

Kombucha is said to have originated in Northeast China around 220 B.C. and has deep roots in Asia just like the craft teas that we create it with.

Brew Dr.’s mission is to explore tea, thoughtfully. We started as a tea company and we’ve been brewing organic, loose-leaf tea as the base for our kombucha since day one.

Each batch is fermented with a live culture of healthy bacteria, called a SCOBY.

Raw Cane Sugar

The brewed tea is sweetened with organic cane sugar. The sugar is the main source of food for the bacteria and yeast in the fermentation process.

We make our kombucha the traditional way, allowing each batch to ferment for up to six weeks. Our different flavors come from the different teas we use, the herbs and other botanicals we steep with the tea leaves, and the organic juices and purees that we add after fermentation to flavors like Island Mango and Wildberry Ginger. We use only certified organic ingredients and will not compromise on our quality.

Good (Safe) For Humans

Alcohol is a byproduct of traditional kombucha fermentation. We gently extract that alcohol so our kombucha is safe for all ages to enjoy. The alcohol we remove gets repurposed for biofuel and hand sanitizer!

Exploring Tea

We were tea people before we were kombucha people. While we will always stay true to making organic raw kombucha at its finest, we continue to experiment with tasty new ways to bring tea to our customers. Most recently, we have launched Brew Dr. Uplift, an organic yerba mate that provides a hit of caffeine combined with gut-healthy probiotics.
